How to Create a Memorable Tagline
A tagline is a phrase that accompanies your brand name to quickly translate your business's positioning and brand identity into a single line (a tagline) that means something to consumers. A tagline is meant to provide consumers with an indication of your brand and its market position in just a few memorable words.
Take a moment to think about some major corporations and the taglines they have created. When you think of common brands and instantly know their tagline, that’s a clear indication that the corporation has done an excellent job of branding.
Here are some tips on creating a memorable tagline for your business:
- Choose a headline that summarizes what your business is about. Remember: it should incorporate your brand or at least be harmonious to what your brand is about.
- A tagline is your slogan and should speak directly to your audience and customer base. It’s not meant to be changed frequently. It is meant to be repeated over and over throughout advertising, websites, and corporate stationary.
- Pick a headline and tagline that are catchy and interesting and will compel your visitors to keep reading.
- Keep the headline short – no more than eight words. Most visitors will scan the first few words before deciding to move on. If your tagline combination is short and summarizes your content, visitors will be more likely to read on.
